The First Tee of Spartanburg is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. We are a Chapter of the non-profit youth initiative, The First Tee. The First Tee was created in 1997 by the World Golf Foundation to provide young people of all ethnic and economic backgrounds an opportunity to develop through golf, character education, and life-enhancing values such as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship.
By engaging young people in a combination of life skills, leadership and golf activities, they are exposed to positive traits that will help them achieve success in life. In the process, participants become valuable assets to their community.
Our facility is located adjacent to The Creek Golf Club and features a 6-hole short course, a driving range (with 3 additional golf holes) that was designed by Tom Watson Design Group, and a building called the “Hootie Hut” named in honor of the band Hootie and the Blowfish who have been instrumental in the development and support of our chapter. The Hootie Hut houses our offices and The First Tee classroom as well as an indoor training area that is used during inclement weather.
