ESPN Spartanburg has suffered two terrible lightning strikes within the past two months. The damage has been great, destroying equipment and software used for our on air phone system, online streaming, syndication of Open Mic Daily to the Greenville market on ESPN 1440 AM, our automation system (essentially, the brain of station), and other essential elements.
We have fought, prayed, and in some cases won the battle. The station is on the air. We are running local commercials. We can put callers on the air. This is great progress from where we were just a couple weeks ago. We thank everyone for their support and patience.
But there’s still work to be done. We can’t stream yet and we aren’t set up to syndicate Open Mic Daily in Greenville yet. We’re very sorry for this inconvenience. We’re trying. An engineer will be here soon (we hope) to address these last two issues. And hopefully, we won’t suffer this badly from the next lightning strike, as we’ve had new grounding features installed.
Again, we thank you for your support, well wishes, inquiries, even your frustration. We’re frustrated, too. We’re ready to be ESPN Spartanburg again.
