The green flag will wave for Droppin’ the Hammer this Saturday morning, and we will have you covered from kart racing, super late models, drag racing to the lead pack at Daytona. The list of guests includes the defending World of Outlaws Super Late Models National Champion Rick Eckert, the race winner and second place finisher in the World of Outlaws Late Models season opening event from Screven Motor Speedway in Georgia Darrell Lanigan and Ray Cook, the President of the UARA Series Kerry Bodenhamer, the Marketing Manager for Ford Motor Company Mustang/Shelby division Jim Owens, Amanda Lawson with the Cross Anchor Speedway talking about the Jake Lawson Memorial Race scheduled for Sunday February 19th, and Hank Guyton calling in live from Greer Dragway as drivers make test runs to get ready for the season. In our Legends of Racing segment we will talk with two of the best crew chiefs in NASCAR history. Barry Dodson who was the leader of the crew chief for 1989 Winston Cup Champion Rusty Wallace. Fox/SPEED-TV commentator and two-time winning crew chief in the Daytona 500, Larry McReynolds will also join us as he looks ahead to all of the action at Speedweeks including his son Brandon competing in the ARCA 200. Local author Perry Allen Wood will join us again this season to continue the series Declarations of Stock Independents each week.
The Spartanburg community lost two great friends from the racing industry over the past few weeks, Steve Foster who worked with Robert Yates Racing, and the 1997 IHRA World Champion Kevin Scales, and we will reflect on the lives of both of these men during the show.
